The Victorian leg of the Jim Beam Surftag series was held on the weekend at Gunnamatta. Teams of 5 surfers from each club were pitted against one another in a tag-team format. 13th was represented by Simon Collier, Shawn Todd, Cam Renzenbrink, Ben Collier and Minni Crapp. Club teams included Peninsula A & B, Torquay, Phillip Island, Seaford (from SA) and us. The boys started the day strongly by beating Torquay in the dying seconds of the first heat and going straight through to the final. In the final the team stuck to the right-hand bank and scored some great waves, including the highest score of the day from Ben Collier (8.5). Phillip Islands stacked team and Seaford (including Jarred Howse) proved too strong in the final scoring 1st and 2nd respectively. 13th placed 3rd while Torquay finished 4th. The team represented the club well scoring a $600 dollar check and just missing out on making the aussie finals (next year!). Peninsula invited everyone back to their club rooms for the presentations where Jim Beam put on some free drinks. Check out all the great photo’s from the day in the photo’s section.
A big thanks goes out to Greg Collier for driving the bus over and all the support crew that came along to cheer the lads on! Jim Beam are absolute legends for putting on such a great event!
