Our first ever Battle of the Bridge sponsored by Bass Coastal Homes is happening in a couple of weeks on the 26th of July. Who’s going to win bragging rights as the best breeding ground in the club? If you’ve lived in both towns, choose wisely as this will be all out war! (for those that don’t live in either town you can also choose your own alliance)
The format for the afternoon will center around 2 head to head tag teams:
The first will be an all involved ‘bingo style’ 2 hour surf-off where everyone will gather in teams on the beach and be assigned a number. Numbers will be randomly drawn out and if your number comes up you will be next to surf for your team. Some numbers will require surfers to surf switch-foot or ride a single fin!
The second will involve 5 surfers from each team to fight out in a traditional 1 hour tag-team heat. One surfer from each team will nominate one super wave (double points) like in the Vic Teams Titles. Team captains from each side will select their team prior to the day. Cam Lamperd is heading up the Barwon Heads team while his arch rival Michael Crapp will be leading the Ocean Grove side.
Both tag-team scores will be added together to make up your teams total score for the event.
The event will take place in the afternoon so you don’t have to check in until 11:00. We’ll have the bbq cranking while we get the teams sorted and get the first 2 hour tag team going by 12:00.
