Where: 13th Beach - ‘Leftbank’ @ 1st Car park

Conditions: 3 foot, offshore and cranking

Overview: The first contest for 2008, and it looks like another exciting year is coming up at 13th Beach. With the waves pumping, the cadets headed out for the 1st heat of the day. It looks like this division will be another hard fought battle with Gus Harfield taking the early ratings lead after the comp 1. The bbq was fired up and after some food the juniors surfed through their heats. Bart and Jimmy ripped, and Danny DS in his first year as a junior showed he will be in contention at the end of the year, but in the end it was Stuart Ferrier who took the victory. The open womens was moved down to corners, where Molly Kenwood stepped up and took a good win with reigning champ Kasey missing from the comp. Grant “Pudd” Stringer nudged out Kurt Torrance in Open B’s, and Cam Lampard took another strong win in senior mens, following on from his win last year.

Standouts: Bim Gubbins surfing strongly in grand masters for the win, and Cam Lampard backing up his Senior mens win with a 3rd in open

Heat of the day:
Open A final- Sim collier battled with Mouse, Cam Lampard and Benny collier at the end of the day, then rubbed it in to benny in his speech at the Barwon Heads Pizza Bar.
